THE popular ’00s teen drama One Tree Hill has been rebooted with at least two original cast members returning to the series.
One Tree Hill originally aired on The WB and then the CW from September 23, 2003, to April 4, 2012.

The outlet revealed Sophia Bush, 42, and Hilarie Burton, 42, are confirmed to be reprising their roles.
Sophia and Hilarie are set to executive produce the sequel series along with reprising their roles of Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, respectively.
Created by Mark Schwahn, One Tree Hill premiered in 2003 and ran for a total of nine seasons on The WB network and its successor the CW.
The sequel is said to take place 20 years after the end of The CW show and follow best friends Brooke and Peyton – who are now the parents of teens and who will face challenges not unfamiliar to what they tackled in the original series like love, insecurities and grief, per Deadline.
On X, formally Twitter, longtime fans of the show reacted to the news of the Netflix-produced sequel.
One posted gifs of Nathan Scott, played by James Lafferty, and Haley James, played by Bethany Joy Lenz, known as Naley to true fans and wrote, “If these two don’t come back for the new series then I am not interested!”
“She probably won’t, I think her, Sophia and Hilarie are beefing [right now],” suggested another.
“Who asked for this?” a third asked.
“! speak for everyone when I say we don’t need it,” added a fourth.
“I don’t know how to feel about this…” mentioned another, adding, “I can’t wrap my head around what this would look like.
“The only interesting way to do it would be to bring in the main cast as parents to the next generation cuz otherwise, it’s just another random teen drama?”
The coming-of-age drama starred Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, Chad Michael Murray, James Lafferty, Bethany Joy Lenz, Austin Nichols, Antwon Tanner and Paul Johansson, among others.
There have been informal conversations with other members of the ensemble cast, per Deadline.

CLEAR AS DAY
In April, Sophia revealed she’s queer and dating former soccer player Ashlyn Harris in a revealing feature with Glamour.
Sophia dished on her new romance after splitting with her ex-husband, Grant Hughes.
“During the summer of 2023, I moved back into my empty home in LA,” she shared at the time.
“I was separated and preparing to file for divorce, and groups of women in my life started opening up about issues they were going through in their own homes.
“It seemed like every week there were more of us, including [former US soccer player] Ashlyn [Harris], whom I’d first met in 2019 and who was in the process of figuring out her own split from her wife,” Sophia explained.
“She’d been such a kind ear for those of us who opened up about our problems during a shared weekend of speaking engagements at a fancy conference in Cannes, and soon it became clear that she needed our ears too.”
After reeling from her heartbreak, Sophia moved on with the 38-year-old athlete.
“I didn’t expect to find love in this support system,” the actress continued.
“I don’t know how else to say it other than: I didn’t see it until I saw it,” the TV star wrote.
“And I think it’s very easy not to see something that’s been in front of your face for a long time when you’d never looked at it as an option and you had never been looked at as an option.”
“What I saw was a friend with her big, happy life.
“And now I know she thought the same thing about me,” Sophia said.
“I finally feel like I can breathe. I don’t think I can explain how profound that is.”
MOVING ON
In September 2023, Ashlynn – a retired member of United States Women’s National Soccer Team – filed for divorce from her ex-wife, Ali Krieger, according to Today.
The former pair split after nearly four years of marriage.
Ashlynn and Ali share their two children: daughter, Sloane, three, and son Ocean, one.
Sophia and Grant began dating in May 2020.
The former couple announced their engagement a year later in August 2021.
They then tied the knot in June 2022 at the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
About seven weeks after celebrating their first anniversary, The Hitcher actress filed for divorce from the philanthropist.
In August 2023, Sophia removed the name Hughes from her Instagram bio.
A source close to the situation spoke to People about the split.
“Sophia and Grant were friends for 10 years and bonded during COVID through their love of community service,” the source said.
“They continue to run their nonprofit together and remain good friends.”
Sophia was previously married to One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray from 2005 to 2006.
