While fans are delighted the show has is coming back one more time, they will need to prepare themselves to say goodbye to their favourite characters.

The show shared an update on Instagram, writing: “Oi, SLTs! Production has begun for the third and final season of #HeartbreakHigh.

“It’s time for Hartley High’s graduating class to say goodbye to school and hello to adulthood”

They added a teaser for season three saying: “When a revenge prank goes horribly wrong, Amerie and her mates must cover up their secret or risk losing everything.”

Netflix Director of Content ANZ Que Minh Luu recently said about season three: “She never got the letter – but now we get to see what happens next!

“Renewing Heartbreak High for its final season is a major point of pride for us at Netflix. It has been a joy to work with the utterly cooked creative minds behind our favourite Aussie YA show

“and to bring our stories, our culture and our in-jokes to all the fans here at home and throughout the world. See you at muck up day.”

The season 3 cast includes regulars Amerie Wadia, Asher Yasbincek, Harper McLean, Darren Rivers, Quinni Gallagher-Jones, Douglas ‘Cas$h’ Piggott, plus further supporting cast.

Fans are excited for season three but gutted that it will be the final season of their beloved show.

One fan posted: “I need a heartbreak University or something—3 seasons wont satisfy me.”

Another said: “I understand that they’ll be graduating and probably don’t want the actors to get older and still be playing teens, but damn! I’ll miss this show a lot

“I think it’d be cool if they cycled in younger cast members and let us follow their stories – similar to what Skins and Degrassi did.”

A third posted: “I was happy when I saw season three until I saw it was the final”

Another begged: “Please let it be a longer season then”

Heartbreak High originally ran from 1994 to 1999 across seven series, following the lives of students and staff at a multicultural Sydney high school.

In 2022, an eight-episode series inspired by the original ‘90s series, made its global debut on Netflix in 2022 and found critical acclaim and a legion of young fans.

Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Netflix.
