THERE is a new update with the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot as an original star is set to reprise their popular role.
Oscar winning director Chloé Zhao, 42, is a lifelong fan of the hit drama series and is set to helm the pilot.

US based streaming service Hulu has ordered an episode for a reboot of the hit series.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, 47, is expected to star in the episode as the title character as she reprises her signature role as Buffy Summers.
This is despite the fact that she vowed never to return to the Buffy The Vampire Slayer, saying so in 2023.
However, she previously expressed an openness back in December when she promoted the Dexter prequel series, Original Sin.
She explained: “It’s funny, I always used to say no, because it’s in its bubble and it’s so perfect.
“But watching Sex and the City and seeing Dexter, and realizing there are ways to do it, definitely does get your mind thinking, ‘Well, maybe.'”
Disney‘s 20th Television and sibling studio Searchlight TV are reportedly behind the show.
The Academy Award winning director is under a first look deal with the corporation.
Deadline has reported that a writers room will be starting up in the coming days.
The outlet reports that the studios have “high expectations” for the new series.
Although it’s currently unclear if the other original cast will return, although it is considered likely with Sarah Michelle Gellar’s casting.
The project has been described as the next phase in the Buffyverse as the original series executive producers Gail Berman of the Jackal Group and Fran Kuzui & Kaz Kuzui return with their Suite B company.
Dolly Parton will also serve as an executive producer of the pilot episode, after her company Sandollar was a producer on the original.
Joss Whedon wrote the original series as well as the 1992 movie, which served as the basis for it, and has no involvement in the revival.

The ‘Jolene’ singer previously got fans excited when she indicated that a BuffyThe Vampire Slayer return was in the works.
She told Deadline: “They’re still working on that. They’re thinking about bringing it back and revamping it.”
