The decision came after lengthy negotiations with the show’s lead studio, Warner Bros. Television.

East New York – which UK viewers can watch via Paramount+ -followed Regina Haywood (Amanda Warren) who was the newly promoted deputy inspector of East New York, an impoverished, working-class neighbourhood at the eastern edge of Brooklyn.

She lead a diverse group of officers and detectives, but faced resistance from some who were reluctant to use her more creative methods of serving and protecting.

Deadline reports that the TV show was reportedly competing for the same slot as S.W.A.T, which CBS had made a shock U-turn on and had decided to renew for a seventh and final series, despite initially axing it at the end of last week.

As well as East New York, CBS also announced it would not be renewing the TV series True Lies.

True Lies was a reboot of James Cameron’s hit 1994 action comedy movie which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The TV version of True Lies – which is available on Disney+ in the UK – starred Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga.

It followed Harry (Howey), a first-class international spy for U.S. intelligence agency Omega Sector, and his wife, Helen (Gonzaga), a language professor bored with her daily routine.

Helen is shocked to discover that her seemingly ordinary husband is leading an extraordinary double life.

The series also starred Erica Hernandez, Omar Miller, Mike O’Gorman, Annabella Didion, and Lucas Jaye.
