NETFLIX have axed an adventure series after just one series despite its all-star cast.

Bosses at the streaming giant have brought the TV axe down on a number of hit shows recently, such as Kaos.

And now they’ve struck again as Scott Pilgrim Takes Off has been cancelled after one series.

The animated show was based off of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s novels and the author also served as the co-developer and executive producer.

Confirming the series wouldn’t return, Bryan told fans: “We were recently informed that the show will NOT return.”

He continued: “As you know, we only intended one season, and called in a lot of favours to make it happen, so making more would have been nearly impossible.

“Still, I know some of you have been holding out hope.”

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off debuted in November 2023 with eight episodes, which are still available to stream on Netflix.

Some of the actors who reprised their roles for the series included Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin and Chris Evans.

Taking to social media, one fan said: “A shame this isn’t getting more. I liked that we got a sort of Scott Pilgrim multi-verse this way but unfortunately the bad rep that it gained from people overreacting too quickly hurt it.”

A second wrote: “It became an immediate comfort show for me, thank you so much for such a funny, heartwarming and inspired series.”

“Ah, it was such a great show and the fact you pretty much got the entire cast back to voice their characters was a remarkable feat,” said a third.

While a fourth commented: “Thanks for making the show the way you did, woulda been way easier to just make a straight up adaption but what ya’ll did really helped create something special.”
