NETFLIX has axed a show lead by an A-list star after just one series.

Man Vs Bee was released in summer 2022 and saw Rowan Atkinson play Trevor Bingley, a down-on-his-luck man who finds himself entrenched in a battle with a bee while house sitting a rich couple’s modern mansion.

However, The Sun has revealed how Rowan, 68, looks to have a rare failure on his hands, as Netflix has no plans to make a second series of the comedy.

It drew mixed reviews from critics and even Rowan admitted he was not entirely satisfied with the show.

He said on launching the comedy: “Whatever I do, and this includes Man Vs Bee, I always think I can do it better.

“It’s a stressful thing to nearly always think there’s something better out there.”

In its first month, the series was viewed for 25.4 million hours – feeble compared to Netflix record holder Stranger Things, whose fourth series was watched for 1.35 billion hours in the same period.

Meanwhile, last month Rowan’s Blackadder co-star Tony Robinson hinted the iconic comedy could be returning to our screens.

Blackadder, which ran for four series in the 1980s, is about to celebrate its 40th birthday.

Appearing on Lorraine, Tony suggested it could return to our screens with the original cast.

The actor, 76, was asked about moves to reunite the team by stand-in host Christine Lampard, 44.

He teased: “All I’m going to say is: everybody likes to celebrate a 40th anniversary, don’t they?

“So there must be some fresh way we can celebrate our 40th birthday, wouldn’t you think?”

Tony played hapless sidekick Baldrick in the sitcom, alongside Rowan Atkinson‘s scheming Blackadder.
